How does a company benefit the society and the world?

 

I am really fascinated by the companies, you know. They are the best thing in the world.

Entrepreneurship, starting a company. It’s not only about making profits man! It is much greater than that. Companies are the backbone of societies. Companies keep this world afloat. It keeps it going. It’s not only the government, it’s the companies too.

(Governments usually have trillions and trillions of debt but there are a lot of companies who are virtually debt free.)

What do the companies do? How do they serve the society?

• Companies provide us with excellent products and services
• Companies give us a job.
• Companies help the public to create wealth by being a shareholder in it.
• If you are the owner of a company, you could be amassing huge profits.
• Companies help govt. massively, through enormous taxes that they have to pay.
• Companies keep the economy of our country going, it strengthens it.
• Companies encourage quality product development through the competition because if it does not deliver quality products or services soon it will be thrown out of business by its competitors.

Let us take example of a company: IndiGo (The one I love to talk about)

How does it help the society?

Corporate social responsibility

There is a rule, a mandate from the govt. that a company has to spend 2% of its net profit on its social responsibilities.

Meaning that if IndiGo has 2000 crores in net profit then it has to spend 40 crores alone towards the betterment of the society. How awesome is that!

I was reading the Annual report of IndiGo yesterday. It said that it has helped the victims of Nepal earthquake. It has helped the victims of Chennai floods. It has helped to build a lot of toilets in schools. I mean this is serious stuff. If companies are helping us in that way, isn’t that so-freaking-awesome?!

Apart from that, the company helps more than 12000 people put food on the table.

That company is providing us with excellent air travel service.

There are lots of people out there who say that the promoters and the owners of the companies are bad guys. They only take huge profits and they don’t do anything for the society blah blah blah…

What a complete bullshit! I think the owners/promoters of a company are most amazing people in the world. I have huge respect for them. They are ‘The Heroes’ of the world I can say that. They provide Jobs to millions of people throughout the country.

(Also, in return, if they choose to spend their money on expensive bungalows beside Miami Beach then that’s completely okay to me. After all, who wouldn’t want that, after working fu**king hard?!)

Companies also enhance the image of a country and promote foreign investments. When foreigners see that a particular company is generating tons of profit and providing great value to its customers then obviously they are attracted.

And that’s how I think a company contributes to the society and the world.
