Who are you to have an opinion?

I have been writing these microblogs for about 10 days or so. While writing I often get criticized by that same little voice in our heads which asks us a lot of questions. Which creates doubts in our mind. Which heckles us whenever we are trying to create something.

I often get heckled by that little voice like this: “Who are you to have an opinion, who gave you permission to write? You don’t know anything, you can’t have an opinion on this, on that etcetera etcetera…”

So here is my answer to you, you mean little voice. Liz Gilbert has given me permission to write. I received it via reading her book Big Magic. I am now fully accredited to create whatever I want, to have an opinion on whatever I want.

Other times that little voice heckles me like: “Whatever you are writing is sh*t, you are copying ideas, you are already writing/creating which has already been written/created.”

My answer to this you mean little voice, again as taught by Dear Liz, “Everyone is borrowing from one another. It might have been written before but it has not yet been written by me.”

So I will write. Even if it is writing about something that has been written about a thousand times. It doesn’t matter.

These are all philosophies which one of the most successful writer of our times, the writer of Eat, Pray, Love follows.

I will take her advice and follow the same philosophy while writing.
